Designs based on my novel, Abel Bodied, the Murder at the Malden Bank pub crawl and “Straight Outta the 02148” – the first of more Malden-themed attire to come!

Although the term, “Going Postal” didn’t enter into our lexicon until the 1990’s after a spree of postal worker violence, the disgruntled Malden Postmaster Edward Green, over a hundred years before, was, in retrospect, the very first to fit the description of “The Original Going Postal” to a T.

Now it is on a tee!

I wear this shirt at book signings and on my travels.

It’s always been a great conversation starter! To my initial surprise, it’s also been particularly popular with postal workers or someone related to or friends with one.

“The Murder at the Malden Bank” interactive pub crawl is now in its third summer. Meeting hundreds of people at close to a dozen of these events, I always scribble the phrase, “Murder & Beers” on every book I sign. Feedback to that has been so phenomenal that I’ve decided to create a shirt with that catchphrase in honor of the fun times had by all at these pub crawls!

As far as the third category, there are a lot of “Straight Outta” shirts out there and you can find a “Straight Outta Malden” easy enough if you wish.

Here I am in “The Original Going Postal’” shirt outside Idle Hands Craft Ales with my pal, Peter Caso, who is wearing one.

Instead, for a twist, and keeping with the postal theme by using a zip code, I love how “Straight” rhymes with “02148” in “Straight Outta the 02148.”

Plus, when most of those type of shirt designers make a template like “Straight Outta” – they apply it to multiple cities to expand their audience and possible profit. I’m from Malden and this is the only “Straight Outta” shirt you will see here.

These designers also seem to print only on the front of their shirts. Most of my apparel has a design on the back as well. The first two clothing categories are tied directly to my novel so they feature the book cover for “Abel Bodied” on the back.

This “Straight Outta the 02148” contains the names of the squares and neighborhoods in Malden on the back. It also includes two special places for anyone who has ever called Malden home; “Pine Banks” which is split evenly between the city and neighboring Melrose, and Fellsmere Park and Pond, better know to locals as “The Res.”

Elisha Converse, the first mayor of Malden and the father of the murder victim at the Malden Bank, bequeathed both areas of land to the city as outdoor spaces for the public to enjoy. If you ever lived the 02148, I’m sure you’ve spent countless hours in each of them just as I’ve done.

My Merch contains a wide selection of clothing including t-shirts, hoodies and long sleeves, in a variety of colors; accessories like a knit cap and bags; a pet tee; and drinkware such as mugs and pint glasses. My apologies that some items are listed here more than once. I am attempting to delete the duplicates. If you to wish to see a specific item added to the site, please drop a line and I will see what I can do!

Thank and Cheers,

Michael
